How does virtual therapy work with young children?
Virtual play therapy will occur in a private location of your home with toys that can be selected with the therapist ahead of time. It is helpful to have the therapist displayed on the screen of a tablet or laptop positioned on a chair so the child can move the therapist around the room. The age, maturity level, and home environment of the child will help us assess if virtual child therapy will be effective. Virtual therapy is often effective with older children and teens who can remain in their comfort zone while receiving treatment.
How much do sessions cost?
Our sessions range in price from $150 to $235 depending on the provider and length of session. Please contact us for more details.
I'd like to be seen in person, is that possible?
Yes, starting in 2025 Dr. Lauren Messina is seeing clients in person in Silver Spring, Maryland on Wednesdays. If interested in in-person sessions, we’d meet at the office located at 804 Pershing Dr #4, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Contact us to get it scheduled.
Do you take insurance?
We do not accept insurance benefits at this time. We are happy to work with you to access your out-of-network benefits by providing Superbill receipts for sessions. These receipts can be submitted to your insurance company, often for partial reimbursement (30-80%) of the cost of sessions.
When will sessions take place?
We have evening and daytime appointments available. Typically we see clients weekly or biweekly to start. Your therapist will work with you to outline the best schedule to accomodate your availability and clinical needs.
